World Cup Fitasc Grand Prix

Mid Wales Shooting Centre's sponsored shooter, Martin Myers, recently shot at the South Florida Gun Club in the Krieghoff Classic and the World Cup Fitasc Grand Prix.

An amazing display of consistent shooting by Martin against World Class shooters such as Derrick Mein, Gebben Miles and Wendell Cherry in all the events, meant a very successful America trip.

Shooting in the Krieghoff Classic, Martin shot 190/200 to finish up as Runner Up, only 2 clays behind the Champion.

In the World Cup Fitasc Grand Prix, there was a 4-way tie for 2nd place on 189/200, but the new experience of shooting under floodlit conditions, meant that Martin unfortunately lost out.

In the side events, Martin's consistent shooting saw him come joint 3rd in the 5 Stand on 97/100-Runner Up in the Prelim on 97/100 and High Gun in the Super Sporting with a 50 straight.

An excellent and strong start to 2018, which looks good for another successful year to come.

Martin Myers teams up with Mid Wales Shooting Centre

Martin Myers signs sponsorship deal with Mid Wales Shooting Centre!

Martin has been hooked on shooting since he was introduced to rough shooting by his father Dai, at the age of 8. Having tried most disciplines, Martin has always come back to his passion for Sporting and FITASC.

Practicing during the week and starting with local 50 bird shoots, he progressed to 100 bird registered shoots in 1989. Nowadays, Martin doesn’t practice at all in the week-his Krieghoff goes in the gun cabinet on a Sunday night and is not seen until the following weekend; but lookout then!

Remembering that Martin lives in West Wales, he has to travel quite a distance to most of his shoots-covering around 30,000 miles a year doing so. Using his trusted Krieghoff K-80 and Hull Sovereign combination, he crams 2 or more 100-bird shoots in on a Sunday and also on a Saturday  if possible, aided and supported by his wife Ruth.

Martin’s been fortunate to travel to many countries doing what he loves, shooting for Wales, England and Great Britain and in the future, he’ll continue to rack up the miles, carry on shooting and trying as hard as possible to add to his impressive list of titles.
